Robotics Career in Canada

Robotics is the branch of engineering where robots are programmed for multipurpose functioning in order to move objects and complete the given tasks through designated programmed motions. It includes ideation, concept, designing, manufacturing and operation of these machines.

Robotics is widely used in artificial intelligence (AI), bioengineering, computer science, mechatronics, and nanotechnology.

Canadian robotics has been known for Canadarm, a manipulator used by NASA to withstand radiation in space in 1981. Eventually, it was used in building the International Space Station (ISS).

Toronto and Montreal have a world-class centre of excellence in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The workforce in these cities is mainly due to the academics who have arranged funding and partnerships between Canadian Universities and international tech firms.

The growth

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics states that the growth for Robotics is on a rise with projections of 9% market growth from 2016 to 2026.

The general fear being, machines taking over human jobs but some analysts beg to differ as they say the combined skill shortages in robotics and artificial intelligence has millions of job vacancies in the last few years.

The market is looking for robotic engineers who specialize in various skill sets. The companies are interested in automating their work in order to increase productivity. Companies are eager to engage the services of these talented robotic engineers in order to full their automation needs.
