Taiwan News reports that there is an upswing in the number of international students studying in Taiwan.

Foreign students, numbering 126,997 in 2018, accounted for approximately 10 percent of all college and university students studying in Taiwan.

China was the biggest source with 29,960 students followed by Malaysia, Vietnam & Indonesia. Japan was the fifth largest source.

Among foreign students studying in Taiwan there was an almost even distribution of students enrolled in degree programs (49 percent) versus those enrolled in non-degree programs (51 percent) such as exchange students or those studying at Mandarin training centres.
